Sunrise, sunset… Sunrise, sunset, its 530am, I make my way up to Hilltop Reserve and the doors are open and summoning me in… It’s very hard to put into words the feelings that this place evokes, I felt so at peace, grateful for all that I have in my life, my soul-mate, best friend, Lover and confidante, my children, my family, friends… YES all of you lot! MY JOB!!
I was overflowing with Love & gratitude. As the sun rose in the glistening silence of the dawn, (I know, I know… I am having a moment here people!!!!) I closed my eyes, shed a tear, took a deep breath & yelled as loud as I could….
I admit I could have come up with something a little more creative… Like:-
I AM SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARTAAAAAAAAAN!
Or Howl like a wolf – Not sure how you write that down??
Or have an Avatar shriek…. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEE !
I didn’t care if I woke the entire property, I wanted the World to know just how happy that single moment made me feel – I released all my angst, worries, stress, passion, love, sadness, fear, joy in a single moment with one single breath… and I felt FAN-*#$IN-TASTIC! What I didn’t realize was that there was a couple staying in the bedroom and I had scared the S–t out of them… The looks on their faces as they came darting out of the bedroom, naked – OMG! It was priceless… it was so funny, of course the only one laughing was me… Oooooops! Sorry guys!
After a million apologies as tears of laughter streamed down my face I left the room with a magnificent view and the bewildered couple and made my way to breakfast. Pop came to fetch me to take me to the Jetty to catch the boat back to the Marina, ARGH!! LET ME STAY ONE MORE DAY! I bid my farewells and vowed that I would return no matter what… (Joe, 2016 babe this is going to be part of our MEGA-TRIP!! get ready!)
I have to say it was really lovely to see Pooh & Boon waiting for me on the Dock, big smiles on their faces – next stop PHUKET! … and I am sure you ALL know that the H is silent – because I have had clients call me inquiring about FUCKET… Seriously, I kid you not!!
The next 3 hotels are for those who like the bigger, modern resort hotels with all the bells and whistles and creature comforts some people just have to have no matter where they travel. First of the Big 3 is Point Yamu by Como This property is brand spanking new designed by Italy’s very own Paula Navone; apparently she spent months traveling visiting temples all over the country where she gained her inspiration for her East Asian creation. The property is set at the top of Cape Yamu so you have 360′ views, as you walk in you feel as though you are walking amongst the Gods (yes, those Gods are back again) although very Thai in interior design the architecture felt very Roman, grandiose, palatial, almost overwhelming. 79 rooms, 3 wings (it took me 6 minutes to walk from one end to the other) , 2 restaurant and 2 infinity pools.. I was obsessed with the corridors on every floor.
Next up – just up the road from Patong Beach is Sri Panwa, this Thai/Portuguese, 80 acre property has 62 units ranging from 1 to 5 bedroom pool villas, every one with a view of the ocean, 4 Tennis court, 1 boxing ring, 3 swimming pools, amazing spa, 2 restaurants, state of the art cooking school, a nightclub and A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAR TREE . Each villa has floor to ceiling glass windows or walls would be a better description… fully fitted kitchen, steam shower and of course a pool.
OOOOOOOF!! big property…BIG! and I mean HUGE… Back in the van we go, pangs of hunger start to hit me but I am excited to see the next property as LUNCH will be hosted by the wonderful GM Dawid (yes with a “W”) Koegelenberg. Paresa, sand-script for Heaven of All Heavens, is on Millionaire’s Mile in Kamala Beach, even though they don’t actually HAVE a beach, the property is literally built on a cliff side so a lot of stairs (makes for a good work out). This 5 yr old understated luxury property has 49 rooms with a Pools and ocean views, each *cluster* has from 1 to 4 bedrooms so you can book them as an entire family villa or just a solo rooms – which is quite handy. The focus is most definitely on FOOD with a story behind every dish – which I am thrilled about. Italian Chef Luca Mancini (defected from the Aman group) has created the most amazing dishes at Diavolo, yes you got it – It’s ITALIAN but you can also mix it with a little Thai action… and my LORD is it DEEEEEEEEEEEELICIOUS!
The Yam Pap Kood dish is a salad of steamed prawns on a bed of Fern tips that can only be found DEEEEEP in the jungle.. so it’s a rare delicacy and I ATE IT ALL!!! “Please Sir, can I have some more?”
Dawid was a breath of fresh air… he clearly had a GM game face on and boy oh boy did he do a good job, a native South African, quirky, funny, perfectly coiffed and dressed, and SOLD TO THE LADY EATING ALL MY FOOD! AND drinking Thai Wine – correct, the Thai’s are wine makers.. bet you didn’t know that! Google it! This property not only has you salivating at the dining table but also offers guests a *Bespoke* (David’s favorite word – he must had said it 58 times) tailor made itinerary ranging from Chocolate Lovers Heaven (combining a Chocolate spa treatment followed by a Chocolate Cooking class with Luca washed down with a Chocolate Martini – Body still covered in chocolate is optional), Heritage walk exploring old Phuket with the man himself to swimming with elephants. his philosophy is showing guests that there is so much more to Thailand than just sun, sea and surf and a happy ending 🙂
After a 3 hour fun filled lunch I was whisked away by Pooh & Boon to my final resting spot for the night, The Trisara….AAAAAAAAAAAAH! (meaning Third Garden of Heaven) really?? how many heaven’s can a girl handle in one day!! I mean Honestly! I arrived just before sunset, this beautiful property has 68 Pool Villas, still keeping with this Thai/Portuguese trend that we have seen all day. welcoming, soothing, luxurious… just yummy! the perfect sanctuary for my weary head after a LONG DAY on the road…
Into the pool I go!!! cue Video clip!!
Next Stop…. BANGKOK!!!!
G’Night All xxxx
